Taunt and Provocation

Taunt is a form of crowd control as it forces enemies to attack the taunting hero with attacks. That way the taunter (often it's a tank) can protect their allies from single, focused attacks.

However, enemies can still use AoE attacks that hit all their opponents or use multi-target attacks (rampage) to bypass the taunting hero.

The Provoked Icon.png Provoked debuff is another form of Taunt. It works only against a single attacker and forces the attacker to target the provoker next turn. If Taunt and Provoked are both active then Provoked takes precedence.

The trait Turn a Blind Eye Icon.png Turn a Blind Eye grants immunity to Taunt, Provoked and Aversion Icon.png Aversion.

Taunt Icon.png Taunt invalidates the Aversion Icon.png Aversion effect as long it is active.

The Taunt Icon.png Taunt effect of Rune.png Tank Runes lasts only 1 round. The use of several Rune.png Tank Runes extends the duration of Taunt by +1 round for each rune, but the Bulwark Icon.png DEF+ side-effect of Taunt does not stack.

The use of an Aversion Icon.png Aversion Rune on 3 allies can give the 4th hero on the team an effect similar to Taunt that can't be purged and that doesn't expire. The reason is that Aversion can't be purged and doesn't expire and the 3 allied heroes can't be attacked as long the 4th ally (without Aversion) is alive.

Passive trait Gorgon Devotion Icon.png Gorgon Devotion activates taunt when on a team with a Gorgon.

Aversion

Aversion is like a reverse taunt: the effective hero can't be targetted unless they taunt or provoke an enemy or are the only target remaining.
