Burned - Target has reduced DEF and takes Fire damage each turn for 3 turns.

This status effect is easily recognized by the flames swirling around the affected individual. For the duration of the effect, Fire damage is dealt at the end of each turn until the effect expires.

The amount of damage is based on the skill stat of the hero (or enemy) that caused the burn.

This damage deals extra damage to targets with vulnerabilities like Fire Vulnerability (2x Fire damage taken), or attackers with boosted damage vs burned targets like Pyromaniac. In addition, other enemies benefit by attacking those with burning effects such as the Fire Eater effect (gains life upon attacking a burning target). The damage from Burn can be mitigated by damage reduction and a high skill stat.

A side-effect of Burned is that the affected target also has a lowered DEF, similar to DEF-. This increases the amount of damage that the hero takes from all hits and attacks.

Many Fire heroes can inflict Burn. Some heroes have the Grill Master passive, which has a chance to burn targets upon a critical hit. Nitpick is a hero that hits the opponent's team with many meteor strikes, each having a chance to burn the target. It ensures that the entire enemy party is on fire.  Mangle Jaw's Hot Coals ability leaves a burning pile of fire inducing coals, with a high chance to inflict burn and have it sustained for a long duration of time. Finally, Squinch is a hero that provides his party with the  Pyromaniac buff (1.5x damage dealt against burning targets) with his Playing With Fire ability.

Burn Immune is not the same as Fire Immune. A few heroes like  Ferno are completely immune to Burn and Fire. A few others like  Solaris are immune to Fire attacks, but not to Burned. In that case, Solaris can catch fire, the debuff with all side-effects is applied, but she will take no damage from the debuff because it's Fire damage.

Last but not least, there are different types of Burned like Wildfire, Demonfire, etc. They all do Fire damage and count for boosted damage against Burned targets but have different side-effects.

Properties of Burned

Heroes

The following heroes have or can inflict/apply Burned:

 Questionable Contrails (Special Attack): Ranged Light attack on all enemies that applies Burn, Poison, or Frostbite to each enemy, and buffs DEF of all allies.
 Unstable Bomb (Special Attack): Ranged Physical Attack on target enemy that applies up to 3 random status effects. Cooldown of this special attack is reduced for each status effect missed.


 Fire Priestess (Trait): This hero gains 10% damage reduction for each other fire hero on the team. Attacks have a [25/50/100]% chance to burn on hit. The percentage depends on the rank (I-III) of this trait. Each Ascension increases the boost.


 Fire Nova (Special Attack): Ranged Fire attack on all enemies, with Rage adding an additional chance to Burn. Grants team Burning Touch (chance to Burn on Basic attacks).
 Incinerate (Special Attack): Ranged Fire attack with a chance to Burn. +20% damage for each stack of Rage. If target dies, the corpse is removed.


 Barrel Toss (Special Attack): Ranged Physical attack on all enemies that inflicts a random Debuff on each enemy hit, then buffs team +DEF.


 Purging Pyre (Special Attack): Purges 3 Buffs, then does a Ranged Fire attack on all enemies with a chance to Burn. Consuming Burns reduces the cooldown of this ability.


 Pyrojectiles (Trait): Self and allies have a chance to Burn on Ranged Physical attacks.


 Fiery Fangs (Special Attack): Melee Fire Bite with a chance to Burn.
 Grill Master (Trait): Chance to Burn on CRIT.
 Burning Rampage (Special Attack): Melee physical attack on target and 2 random enemies with a chance to Burn.


 Hot Coals (Special Attack): Ranged Fire attack on all enemies with a chance to Burn, as well as Slow non-Flying enemies. As long as the coals are present, enemies can Burn on any turn if not immediately after this attack.
 Grill Master (Trait): Chance to Burn on CRIT.


 Meteor Storm (Special Attack): Ranged Fire attack on all enemies twice with a chance to Burn.
 Grill Master (Trait): Chance to Burn on CRIT.
 Fireball (Special Attack): Ranged Fire attack with a chance to Burn.


 Burning Touch (Trait): Chance to Burn on Basic attacks.


 Chaos Storm (Special Attack): Ranged Dark attack on all enemies with a chance to Freeze, Burn, Disease, Wound, or Paralyze.


 Fire & Flames (Special Attack): Sacrifices herself. Cooldown is based on how much damage allies receive (Basically, anytime Solaris' allies receive damage it adds to her Fury. Fury is at 100% equivalent to two allies receiving 100% of their health in damage. Example: Hero A loses 50% of their health, Hero B loses 50% of their health, and Hero C dies. 50% + 50% + 100% = 200% health loss = 100% fury amount. Max health reduction is treated as damage. Fury's charge is looking at a hero's original health for that hit. For all subsequent hits, Fury looks at the new max health). Uses one of the following depending on target: IMMOLATING FLAMES (Targeting allies): Revives and heals all allies and applies significant damage reduction for a turn; ENGULFING FIRE (Targeting enemies): Attacks all enemies for [105% ATK] base damage with chance to Burn.
 Fire Bird (Special Attack): Ranged Fire attack on all enemies with a chance to Burn, heals all allies and doubles the heal on a killing blow. Snow Day: also purges all Buffs from all enemies.


 Burning Chop (Special Attack): Melee Fire attack with a chance to Burn.
 Royal Crit Fire (Trait): When on a team with Cruel King Bramble, attacks Burn on CRIT.
 Playing with Fire (Special Attack): Melee Fire attack on all enemies with a chance to Burn, and grants team Pyromania (1.5x damage against Burning targets).


 Feel the Burn (Basic Attack): Melee Physical attack against all enemies for [50% ATK] base damage with a chance to apply a random Burn debuff (Burned, Wildfire, Demonfire, or Soulfire burned) to targeted enemy, and [0/50/100]% base chance to apply a random Burn to the rest. The % depends on the rank (I-III) of this trait.
 Combustion (Special Attack): Melee Physical attack on target enemy and up to 2 others with the most energy, resets all abilities on hit enemies to max cooldown.


 Tinkerer's Tricks (Trait): All attacks have a chance to apply one of the following debuffs to each enemy hit: Chilled, Burned, Shocked, Diseased, or Poisoned. Only one of these debuffs will be applied per hit, and is applied to each enemy individually. This means that if you use Helmet Missiles, one enemy could get burned, another could be poisoned, and another might not be debuffed at all (resisted or immune).


 Fiery Fangs (Special Attack): Melee Fire Bite with a chance to Burn.
 Bat Out of Hell (Special Attack): 3 Ranged Fire attacks with a chance to Burn each hit.
 Beastly Recklessness (Trait): When on a team with Solaris, chance to spread Burn to other enemies on hit.



Epic Heroes with Burned:

Armageddon Armor (Epic): Chance to do a Ranged Fire attack for 3x damage, Burn, and grant team Pyromania.


Pressure Cooker 2.0 (Epic): Chance to attack all enemies for 2x damage with a chance to apply a random burn (Burned, Wildfire, Demonfire, Soulfire) on all enemies and Wound the target. Deals additional damage based on Pressure.


Axe of Tor (Epic): Chance to attack up to 3 enemies for 1.5x damage, Daze, and Burn.


Fireflight (Epic): Chance to deal 1.3x Ranged Physical damage on all enemies with a chance to Burn.


Blood & Boar (Epic): Chance to deal 3x damage and Burn the target. Allies gain Bestial Rage, increasing ATK, DEF, and CRIT.


Immunity

Fire Immune heroes take no damage from Burned, Constructs and Burn Immune heroes are immune to the debuff. The following heroes are immune to Burned:

 Angelic (Trait): Cannot be Poisoned, Burned, Frozen, Chilled, Envenomed, Shocked, or Diseased and starts dungeons with an [Aegis Shield].
 Fireborn (Trait): Burn Immune, heals instead of taking damage from Fire attacks, and deals boosted damage to Burning targets.
 Impervious (Trait): Cannot be Poisoned, Burned, Frozen, Chilled, Envenomed, Shocked, nor Diseased.
 Cloak of Fire (Trait): Allies gain immunity to burn and take 50% less damage from fire attacks.
 Demon King (Trait): Demon allies get [10/15/25]% Attack and Heal instead taking damage from Burns. The percent value depends on the rank (I-III) of this trait.
 Fireborn (Trait): Burn Immune, heals instead of taking damage from Fire attacks, and deals boosted damage to Burning targets.
 Shell Power (Trait): Allied Heroes gain Shell protection (allies cannot be Burned, Frozen, Chilled, Paralyzed or Shocked).
 Impervious (Trait): Cannot be Poisoned, Burned, Frozen, Chilled, Envenomed, Shocked, nor Diseased.
 Fireborn (Trait): Burn Immune, heals instead of taking damage from Fire attacks, and deals boosted damage to Burning targets.
 Stone Skin (Trait): Takes 50% reduced damage from all non-Chaos sources. Immune to being Stoned, Burned, Frozen, and Shocked.
 Living Stone (Trait): Immune to all debuffs but can be healed normally.
 Construct (Trait): Cannot be healed but is invulnerable to all Debuffs.
 Construct (Trait): Cannot be healed but is invulnerable to all Debuffs.
 Construct (Trait): Cannot be healed but is invulnerable to all Debuffs.
 Dryad Ice (Trait): Starts dungeons in Ice Block, reducing damage taken (90% Damage Reduction) and Debuff immune until their first turn. Can't be stolen, copied, or purged.
 You Can't Catch Me! (Trait): Flying allies can't have buffs removed or debuffs added by non-Flying enemies.
 Ambush Tactics (Special Attack): Ranged Physical attack on target enemy and all Ranged allies attack the same target, then gain Stealth and become Invulnerable for 1 turn. Starts Powered.
 Ice Block (Trait): Starts dungeons in Ice Block, reducing damage taken (90% Damage Reduction) and Debuff immune until his first turn. Can't be stolen, copied, or purged.
 Living Stone (Trait): Immune to all debuffs but can be healed normally.
 Construct (Trait): Cannot be healed but is invulnerable to all Debuffs.
 The Last Word (Trait): Slow allies and self take 30% reduced damage from Fast enemies. Slow allies revenge attacks twice. Slow allies can't have buffs removed or debuffs added by fast enemies.
